The Montaña Central, municipality by municipality

The Montaña Central county of Asturias cannot be discovered all at once; it is understood by traversing its municipalities, entering its valleys, ascending its mountain passes, strolling through its villages, and pausing in places where the landscape still holds onto its history. Aller, Lena, Mieres, Morcín, Ribera de Arriba, and Riosa form a diverse area defined by mountains, mining, livestock farming, historic routes, Romanesque architecture, snow, cider, traditional granaries (*hórreos*), and a way of life deeply rooted in the land. Each municipality offers a unique perspective: from the peaks and gorges of Aller to the historic mountain pass of Lena; from the mining and urban identity of Mieres to the symbolic power of Mount Monsacro in Morcín; and from the tranquil landscapes of Ribera de Arriba to the ascent of the Aramo and Angliru ranges in Riosa.
