Sierra de Lagos Route

The Sierra de Lagos rises above Ribera de Arriba as a natural viewpoint between valleys, small peaks, and mid-mountain paths. It is an entertaining, panoramic route, perfect for discovering the most mountainous terrain of the council.

The Sierra de Lagos route is one of the most complete options for immersing yourself in the local landscape. Unlike softer trails, this itinerary gains altitude from the start and connects several highlights, combining rural paths, steep sections, mountain passes, and open views.

The journey begins in Baiña and heads towards La Muela. With an approximate distance of 10 kilometers and a positive elevation gain of 693 meters, it is classified as medium difficulty. While not technically complex, it requires experience with mountain hiking and continuous climbs.

Key highlights include the ascent to Alto de Magarrón (653 m), offering the first great panoramic views of the route. Later, the path descends towards El Collaín before continuing to Pico Bustiellu (561 m), which provides a different perspective of the landscape. The passage through Bustiellu Forest offers a magnificent natural contrast, alternating the open spaces of the mountain range with the secluded atmosphere of the woodland.

The itinerary continues through Les Liñaes and approaches the area of Pico Castiellu, turning the experience into a true ridge traverse. As a linear route, it allows hikers to enjoy a constant sense of progression, traversing the relief of Ribera de Arriba from a privileged position.
