Gallegos Ethnographic Museum

The Gallegos Ethnographic Museum preserves a facet of the Montaña Central region that often quietly fades away: the daily life of its villages. It does not center on grand artifacts or exceptional monuments, but rather on objects that were once part of homes, kitchens, stables, fields, and everyday trades.

Its galleries display household items—such as dough troughs, dish racks, trivets, wooden vessels, cooking pots, oil lamps, beds, and pot hooks—alongside farming implements like plows, scythes, and hay forks. Each object speaks to a specific task: kneading dough, cooking, hanging a pot over the fire, working the land, mowing, tending to livestock, or storing tools.

Housed in the *Casona de Fernando y Jacoba* in Gallegos, the museum retains the intimate scale of a local space where memory feels not distant, but rather an integral part of many families’ lives. Its value lies in preserving the everyday before it vanishes completely.
